Strategies for Baccarat

Baccarat is an easy game to enjoy even if you are new to it. Probably the most difficult thing about Baccarat is knowing how to say it. It is “bah-caw-rah”, not “back-a-rat”. As an online player you will be able to play on greatly lesser limits than real sit-in casinos.

There are not any actual decisions for the player other than where they would want to put money on every hand. Everything that takes place during the deal does so based on an existing set of rules, so other than where to bet there is little to do other than wait to see what happens.

After betting on either the player, dealers hand or a tie, two cards are dealt to the banker and each player at the table. Whichever hand that comes closer to a total of 9 wins the round. Hands are calculated by adding up the value of each card together, but taking away ten whenever the total gets above 9. As an illustration, a 4 and a 7 total 11, which equals a hand total of 1 after removing 10. Aces are worth 1, face cards at 0.

Bets placed on the players hand pay 1 to 1, same with the bankers – though a 5% commission is taken on winning banker bets. Tie bets pay 8 to 1, and are not really a wise wager based on the liklihood of them occuring.

Whenever the initial two cards total 8 or 9, the hand is a “natural” and no extra cards are dealt to the player or dealers hand. Otherwise, the rules decide how many extra cards both the players hand and dealer should take.

As there are not any actual choices to be made by you as the player besides the opening bet, there are really no strategies that can be employed, asides from possibly counting cards and betting accordingly.
